Ground Beef Tacos with Homemade Seasoning

Ingredients

Quantities are for 4 servings.

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 each Yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 8 each Corn tortillas
  • 6 oz Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded lettuce
  • 1 each Roma tomato, diced
  • 4 oz Sour cream
  • 1 each Lime

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion, breaking the meat up with a spoon as it browns, about 6-7 minutes, until no pink remains and the beef reaches 160°F internally.
  2. Drain off excess grease. Stir in the minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and 1/4 cup water. Simmer 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid mostly cooks off and the meat is well coated.
  3. While the meat simmers, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet, about 20 seconds per side, or wrap in foil and warm in a 300°F oven for 10 minutes.
  4. Season the beef with salt to taste.
  5. Set out the beef, tortillas, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream so everyone can build their own tacos. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top.
